About the USDA FoodData Central Database

The data displayed comes from the USDA FoodData Central database, which contains five distinct types of food and nutrient data:

  • Foundation Foods - Comprehensive nutrient profiles with extensive metadata
  • SR Legacy - USDA's historic nutrient data with fewer data fields
  • Survey (FNDDS) - Food and Nutrient Database for Dietary Studies
  • Branded Products - Packaged food items with nutrition facts panels
  • Experimental Foods - Emerging and innovative food products
Nutrient Information

The nutrient values shown represent the amounts per 100g of the food item by default. Some foods may include additional serving size information when available.

Daily Values

The percentage values shown are based on standard daily values for a 2000 calorie diet:

  • Total Fat: 65g
  • Carbohydrates: 300g
  • Protein: 50g
  • Fiber: 25g
  • Sodium: 2.3g

Note: These values are general guidelines. Individual nutritional needs may vary based on age, gender, activity level, and health status.
